DESCRIPTION:Powered by Eventbrite\n\nJOIN THE FB EVENT HERE \nFormed on the lower East Side in 1981 The Toasters have become synonymous with American 2 Tone Ska music and forged their instantly recognizable “East Side Beat” sound in such famous Big Apple dancehalls as CBGB’S where they have been named as a top 20 core artist alongside myths like the Ramones\, Blondie and the Talking Heads. Widely acclaimed as launching the Third Wave Ska revival the Toasters went on to form the famous Moon Records label and kick-started the careers of dozens of bands. Their early collaborations with the iconic Joe Jackson helped define their sound and establish them as the premier USA ska act of their generation. The Toasters have been hailed as “ska pioneers” (Billboard magazine) and the “sound of NYC” (New York Times). \nThe band is currently supporting their latest single: “House of Soul”\, released on their own label Megalith Records and released only in a 7 inch vinyl format. The full color jacket features original artwork by renowned Serbian portrait painter Slavko Krunic. \nDoors open at 9 p.m.\, with Los Kurados and The Inverters each performing an opening set.

Online ticket sales stop at 6 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door unless noted otherwise. \nFlamingo Cantina is thrilled to welcome back Grimy Styles for their DISTERIA record release party as they throw down the very best in all instrumental dub reggae. Two ticket options available. $15 for general admission or $25 for admission + a vinyl copy of their new album DISTERIA (includes digital download card) to be distributed at show. \nGrimy Styles recorded “Disteria” at Cacophony Recorders by Erik Wofford (Black Angels\, M. Ward) in a traditional ‘live take’ directly to tape. Instead of focusing on overdubs and post production\, each member utilizes their own ‘dub’ effects workstation\, which is processed live during the take. \nOn top of the studio mics\, the drummer rigs a separate mic setup which he then manipulates through a side mixer with echo\, reverb and filter processors. He often can be seen playing one handed\, as he reaches over to activate pedals or send ‘reverb splashes’. The concept is for the four members to meld this amalgamation of effects into a cohesive syncopated Dub journey. \nIn a departure from the traditional reggae songwriting intrinsic to Jamaican Dub\, Grimy Styles draws inspiration from many artists spanning from Pink Floyd to Slayer and Astor Piazzola to U2. Classically inspired melodica and guitar drive melodies while drum and bass point back to the fundamental rhythm of King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry. \nGrimy Styles took their unique live show to the four corners of the continental USA following the release of their debut studio record “Rewind”. They have been featured on The Future Sound of Reggae Vol. 1; compiled with Capleton\, Sizzla and Luciano on Gibbo Records; and worked with DJ Rapid Ric\, Chalie Boy and Mr Blakes on The Return of the Versatyle Child Mixtape.
