SUMMARY:Through the Roots\, Tribal Theory\, Serination\, Salt Water Slide
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE\nFlamingo Cantina proudly welcomes “Through The Roots”\nLive In Austin\, TX Saturday March 23\, 2019!\n+ Opening support by Tribal Theory (acoustic set)\, Serination & Salt Water Slide \nDoors @ 9pm\, Ages 18+ Welcome\n$15 General Admission Pre-Sale Tickets On Sale Now\nAny Remaining General Admission Tickets will be $20 @ Door Day Of Show\n*** VIP Option available HERE \n“Sharing inspiring Cali-Reggae vibes with positive messages.” \nFrom what was once a dream inspired by close friends\, to humble beginnings filled with living room jams\, late nights writing songs in the garage\, backyard house parties and countless complaints from neighbors\, San Diego-based reggae/rock band Through the Roots was born. \nBy coincidence in early 2008\, Evan Hawkins and Taylor Boatwright met at a local guitar center. It was there that Evan shared his vision with Taylor\, which eventually led to the beginning of TTR. \nEvan and Taylor came from different musical backgrounds but shared some similar musical tastes\, and both were very moved by reggae. They believed TTR would provide them with the perfect vehicle to spread their message and adopted a Cali reggae/rock concept. \nIn late 2008\, Through the Roots added Brady O’Rear to round out the group’s core. He brought his own musical tastes\, complete with Hawaiian Islands reggae\, and mixed them with those of Evan’s and Taylor’s to give TTR a broader range of ideas and influences to draw from. \nThrough the Roots quickly moved from the streets and backyard shows to touring in 2010 and soon hooked up for West Coast and national tours with some of the reggae/rock genres top headliners. The San Diego band eventually added Corrick Watson (lead guitar/vocals) and Budda Foster (bassist/keys) from Los Angeles to the talented\, five-man mix. \nWith the band set\, Through the Roots looks forward to continuing spreading its positive messages\, and showcasing its high energy shows to a growing legion of fans.

SUMMARY:El Conjunto Nueva Ola + Maria del Pilar\, Los Parranderos De La Kumbia
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS ON SALE HERE\nFriday April 12\, 2019 @ Flamingo Cantina\nstarring El Conjunto Nueva Ola\nw/ Maria del Pilar + Los Parranderos De La Kumbia \nDoors Open at 9pm\nAges 21+ Welcome\, $10 Pre-Sales available now \nSCROLL FURTHER DOWN FOR ENGLISH DESCRIPTION \n*** Directamente de la ciudad de la esperanza: México\, Distrito Federal\, en el mes de Marzo del 2012 se dio a conocer la primera producción musical de EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA\, un disco que hará historia. \nENGLISH \nDirectly from the city of hope – Mexico City\, Mexico – in the month of March\, 2012\, the six-man group EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA released its first musical production\, an album that is sure to make history. A very unique musical collective\, one that will revolutionize the recording industry. The first promotional single from their album is titled “CHIDO\, CHIDO” (“Cool\, cool”) a classic title in the history of tropical music\, but one that here takes on a completely different vibe. \nThe group is comprised of lead singer Urbano López\, guitarist Luzio Nava\, bassist Primitivo Ríos\, percussionist Hipólito Madero\, El Tacho on timpani and El Raio Manzares on keyboards. Their mission is simple: bring flavor and get people to dance to the rhythm of cumbia\, mixing new wave\, rock and disco sounds into hits from various iconic groups like La Sonora Dinamita\, to the late Chico Che & Rigo Tovar. \nUnder the LUZ RECORD label\, their first record was headed by renowned songwriter/producer Ferra with José Quiroz as Executive Producer. The tracks include “Cuando seas grande”\, “Chicharrona (My sherona)”\, “Cumbia town (Funky town)”\, “De quien chon”\, “Chido\, chido” (first promotional single)\, “La estaca”\, “Perdóname mi amor”\, “Los luchadores”\, “La suavecita”\, “Mi cucú”\, “Albañil de la pensil”\, “Vía láctea”\, “Quítate la máscara”\, and “Take on me”. \nDespite its track list\, EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA does not consider itself a cover band. The group members affirm that they “take the work of (de)composing lyrics from powerful tunes like ‘Chicharrona’\, ‘El albañil de la pensil’ and ‘Cumbia town’ and others very seriously.” \nA peculiar concept with unique characteristics\, the group has drawn attention from thousands of people\, a fact that has led them to be known also as “los enmarscarados” (“the masked ones”). Their faces are covered with “luchador” (wrestler) masks at all times\, hiding the true physiognomy of each group member. This has also given EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA a distinctive and authentic feel. \nWho are the masked men and what are their true identities? This is the question that many media reporters have asked. No one knows the answer yet\, but the truth is that these “anonymous guys” have graced the stages of top Hispanic television networks\, including Telemundo\, Telefutura and Univision. In all of their presentations\, there is one common factor: top notch entertainment and EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA’s good vibe\, which has not gone unnoticed. \n“The fun and good times are a sure thing. The party and enjoyment have a new name with EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA\, which is totally clear to see. We are musical wrestlers\, and in a short time we’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with talented artists such as Café Tacvuba\, Jenni Rivera\, Aleks Syntek\, Belanova and Los Tigres Del Norte\, among many others\,” the group affirms. \nEL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA has also had the chance to perform at radio festivals that boast massive attendance records. The adrenaline\, joy and irreverence they bring have become a signature when these “six chilangos take control of every stage they step on to\,” as they like to say. \nWhat can you expect if someday you should find these disrespectful masked men up on “el escenario” (stage) or “sexcenario” (sexstage)\, as they call it? The answer is very simple: a show full of fun and energy\, where people dance and laugh nonstop. All attendees will be singing to the tunes of EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA. At the group’s shows\, the youthful audience will pour heart and soul as feedback to an exciting musical collective\, while the adult audience will delight in the new lyrical versions of what were once their favorite hits\, making this a complete party with fun for all ages. \nEL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA is a group that is here to stay. A musical concept that will revolutionize pop music in 2012\, the group will continue to exist for years to come. They are the self-proclaimed “disrespectful musical wrestlers.” But they are also young professionals who\, with their first album\, are providing creativity and freshness to a worn-out record industry. That – and much more – is what EL CONJUNTO NUEVA OLA is all about.

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE\n***OFFICIAL AUSTIN REGGAE FEST AFTER PARTY*** \nLimited $20 Pre-Sale Tickets on Sale Now!\nAges 18+ Welcome\, Doors @ 9PM w/ opening set by Shashamani Sound System \nFor over 25 years\, Mikal/Michael Rose has been recording and performing his brand of militant\, hardcore Jamaican music to the delight of reggae fans around the world. As a solo artist\, with Black Uhuru\, and back as a solo artist\, the “Ruff” Rose has achieved great success throughout his career\, even as different Jamaican musical styles have phased in and out of popularity. \nAs a solo artist\, Michael regularly tours the U.S. and Europe\, and has maintained his Jamaican fan base with hit singles on the island and abroad. He is a modern roots singer\, and fits perfectly into today’s scene. With a glorious past and a wide-open future\, Michael Rose is truly a reggae superstar. \nDeeply mystical\, Jah9 has emerged from a chrysalis of poetry\, dub and spirit to become a powerful femiNINE energy within a universal grassroots movement of consciousness. Inspired by the open spaces in the instrumental dub of 1970’s Jamaican roots music\, Jah9 sings with a voice that belies the dimensions of her physical body\, from a soul much older than its current vessel; “reminiscent of that darkly operatic wailer for truth & justice\, Nina Simone.” Her philosophy–profoundly spiritual\, and her style–Jazz on Dub.

SUMMARY:Jesse Royal
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE\nEarly event\, Ages 18+\nDoors @ 8pm w/ DJ Jah Bill\nJesse Royal on by 10PM\n\n\nJoin the event on FB here \n  \n \nWhen Jesse Royal was only a cub\, the Lord revealed to his mother that she would have to release one of her sons to the world\, proclaiming “he will be a psalmist\, declaring righteousness and justice throughout creation.” As Jesse matured into a young lion\, his mother observed in him a strong sense of integrity and a natural ability to positively affect those around him. But\, it was his deep spirituality\, passion for life and unique connection to music that would convince her that he was being molded to be used by the Creator. \nJesse David Leroi Grey\, aka Jesse Royal\, was born April 29\, 1989. He enjoyed his early years in the hills of Maroon Town and the District of Orange in St. James before moving in the late 90’s with his mother and brother to join his father in Kingston. As fate would have it\, Royal developed a special relationship with Daniel ‘Bambaata’ Marley (son of Ziggy Marley) at school. His friendship with Daniel proved to be fuel to the fire as they shared a deep passion for music and football. Their friendship evolved as they spent a great part of their childhood together. Soon the natural inclination confirmed they were simply brothers with different mothers. As these cubs became lions so grew their devotion to music. With the help of longtime friend Curt ‘Qban’ White they began composing and creating their own music. And together they proceeded to fulfill what they knew was a predestined musical journey\, designed to inspire\, engage and unite people beyond all geographic borders. \nAfter Jesse returned home from schooling abroad\, he reestablished a relationship with high school friend and young producer Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrell (son of Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell). They began creating and composing music together also\, which developed into a Movement as they shared similar views on the social state of Jamaica. \nBlessed with a voice that captures the pain and hunger of a ‘downtrodden’ people; Royal’s militant character and profound lyricism caught the heart of heralded reggae producer\, Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell. Fatis Burrell\, affectionately called ‘Father’ had a great and pure impact on the ‘old soul’ of Jesse; as he credits him as an invaluable inspiration and one of the most influential individuals that he has ever encountered. \nWorking with musicians such as Sly Dunbar\, Robbie Shakespeare\, Donald Dennis\, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and Monty Savory; Jesse is currently in the studio putting the final touches on his debut album with producer Kareem Burrell of the XTM.Nation. Jesse Royal also recently released his debut mixtape dubbed ‘Misheni’\, which means ‘The Mission’ in Swahili.
