DESCRIPTION:Powered by Eventbrite\n\nMustard Plug started out in the punk clubs\, basements and dive bars of the Midwest\, playing punk-influenced ska music before most people in the U.S. had ever heard of ska. They clung to a DIY work ethic that had been ingrained in them growing up in the 1980′s hardcore punk scene and applied it to everything they would ever do together as a band. Mustard Plug released their first cassette tape themselves (1992′s Skapocalypse Now!)\, and played constantly to earn enough money to record their first album – 1994′s Big Daddy Mulititude. Their debut full length was released on legendary NYC label Moon Records (home of Toasters\, Hepcat\, Dance Hall Crashers\, and pretty much every other 90′s ska band of note). With their new found national distribution and exposure\, the band climbed into their van and performed their music to new fans across North America. Twenty-one years\, 1500 shows and 200\,000 album sales later\, it cannot be denied that the band has surpassed all expectations and permanently staked their claim in contemporary music. \nFor their new album\, “Can’t Contain It”\, Mustard Plug have returned to the DIY blueprint that the band was built upon\, while at the same time embracing all the school of hard knocks craftsmanship and wisdom that the band has earned along the way. The band spent the last several years writing new material that was informed by 22 years of songwriting experience while retaining the youthful energy that has endeared them to their fans. They tracked the record at bassist Rick Johnson’s Cold War Studios\, giving them the flexibility to experiment and add new layers and dimensions that were not possible given the time constraints on their previous recordings. Many of their musician friends(Dan Potthast\, Sean Bonnett\, Mark Petz\, Corey Ruffin) were tapped to contribute\, creating a denser\, more intricate sound. \nOnce the recording process for Can’t Contain It was complete\, the band turned to their fans to help finance the mixing and production of their record. Their Kickstarter campaign surpassed all their expectations\, doubling their initial goal and re-confirming the support and love of their audience. The tracks were then sent to be mixed at Bill Stevenson’s Blasting Room Studios where Mustard Plug had recorded 3 of their previous albums (including 1997’s breakthrough “Evildoers Beware” and 2007’s “In Black and White”). The result is possibly their most diverse and best record to date. \nAfter tapping their friends and fans to help out with the recording\, the band turned to more of their posse to collaborate on the artwork. Underground icon Jeff Rosenstock designed the album packaging\, while noted artists Craig Horkey and Larry Kole created alternative limited edition album covers and posters. The final piece came together when at the last minute\, No Idea record founder\, Var Thelin heard the record and offered to partner with the band on its release. Mustard Plug is excited to be given the opportunity to collaborate with a label known for its’ strong punk rock ethics and underground credibility. \nUltimately\, this release is about the community Mustard Plug has built during its’ 22 year existence. Coming full circle back to the DIY scene and the community that the were born out of has helped them to put out their best record to date. \nYoung Costello from San Antonio and The Inverters (Austin) kick off the show. Their crazy\, fun-loving attitude compliments Common Kings’ live sound\, producing phenomenal pop hits with rock\, reggae\, and R&B influences. These influences originate from each band members love for various genres\, and widespread knowledge of music. \nThe majority of Common Kings were born in the South Pacific\, and raised in Orange County\, California. Growing up with households full of colorful personality and vibrant passions for music\, Common Kings’ members naturally grew up forming individual musical paths. This musical journey involved mimicking and listening to artists such as Van Morrison\, Stevie Wonder\, George Benson\, Jim Croce\, Michael Jackson\, The Who\, Led Zeppelin\, Gypsy Kings\, Earth Wind and Fire\, Bob Marley and more. The culmination of these musicians explains exactly who the Common Kings are. \nWhere everything comes to a point is through lead singer Sasualei “Jr King” Maliga. Jr King is perhaps one of the most powerfully impressive vocalists amongst today’s leading artists. Born with this untrained raw-talent\, Jr King’s singing ability seems boundless\, as he amazes listeners with a wide range of belting notes and soulful passion. His humble demeanor off-stage needs no introduction as to when the band is rocking out on-stage creating a young\, wild\, and free atmosphere. \nWith the current success of reaching over 350\,000 single downloads\, partnered with a live performance matched to none (recently showcased as a supporting act on Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 World Experience Tour and Meghan Trainor’s Untouchable Tour)\, Common Kings looks to keep the momentum alive while preparing for their first album drop in early 2017. \nDoors open at 9 p.m. Mayday and Makua Rothman of Tribal Theory open.

They have quickly become one of our favorite old-is-new again bands and if you love conscious live reggae\, this is your jam. \nBlack Slate is a roots reggae band hailing from the 1970’s who backed many of the Jamaican artists touring Europe such as Ken Boothe\, Dennis Brown and Delroy Wilson. They had their first hit in ’76 with the anti-mugging song\, “Sticks Man”. SUMMARY:The Bandulus\, Steady 45\, River City All-Stars
DESCRIPTION:The Bandulus are the brainchild of Jeremy Peña\, formerly of Los Skarnales and The Trenchtown Texans. After the 2006 break-up of Los Skarnales and leaving Trenchtown Texans in 2010\, Jeremy decided to venture out on his own and create the traditional ska\, reggae\, and soul sensation that is The Bandulus. Their first full length album\, Ska.Reggae.Soul\, was released in 2010 featuring a smattering of well respected musicians such as Vic Ruggiero of Slackers’ fame and Willy Camero\, Patrick Kelly\, and Jonny Meyers of The Stingers ATX. After the release\, Jeremy solidified his live band with musicians from the Austin and San Antonio scenes.  \nIn November of 2012\, The Bandulus released their second full length album called The Times We Had. The record was worth the wait and well received\, featured on countless top 10 lists for ska and reggae records. Its unique with its heavy soul influence and heartfelt lyrics but still keeps you dancing in true Bandulus fashion. While staying genuine to the 60’s style traditional ska\, The Times We Had crosses and mixes genres\, keeping on your toes. \nThe Bandulus have already shared the stage with yesterdays and todays top ska and reggae acts including the originators of ska The Skatalites\, The Wailers\, The Slackers\, Easy Star All Stars\, The Aggrolites\, and even Grammy award winners Los Lonely Boys.
