SUMMARY:Brother Thunder + Honey Son + SIPA
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n\n\n\nJoin on Facebook\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, NOV 7th – FLAMINGO CANTINA PRESENTS – A NIGHT OF PSYCHEDELIC BROTHERHOOD with Brother Thunder\, Honey Son\, and SIPA!  \n\n\n\nHoney Son\, fresh off a summer tour opening for Shiny Ribs\, is the nom de plume of Mars Wright\, a thought-provoking RnB master wrapped in trippy sonic layers.   \n\n\n\nSIPA ‘s style is Island Grass—founded upon the sounds of the Appalachian mountains\, flavored by the spices of the Philippines. Fronted by lead singer/ guitar virtuoso Jeff ‘Horti’ Hortillosa (of Whiskey Shivers) SIPA sounds just like a country band…but which country?   \n\n\n\nBrother Thunder combines the soulful powerhouse vocals of Keith Sanders with sizzling Hendrix-style licks\, supported by the ever-driving thump of Angelo Dulang on the bass.  These ACL veterans kick it over the horizon.

SUMMARY:SLACKFEST SOUTH

While influenced (and even personally taught) by Jamaican ska/reggae originators such as the Skatalites and the Upsetters\, the band sees its music as wholly American. Smashing the stereotypes of ska\, The Slackers put a new spin on the genre by playing with an aggressive edge that interweaves personal and political accounts. \n\n\n\nThe Bandulus are the brainchild of Austin\, TX musician Jeremy Peña\, formerly of Los Skarnales and the Trenchtown Texans. A traditional ska\, reggae\, and soul sensation\, The Bandulus cross genres and keep listeners on their toes while crossing genres\, but always with a heavy soul influence and heartfelt lyrics. Their sound evolved to include early rock n’ roll\, Motown-style harmonies\, and psychedelic grooves. The Bandulus have shared the stage with yesterdays and today’s top ska and reggae acts\, including ska originators The Skatalites\, The Interrupters\, Inner Circle\, The Wailers\, The Slackers\, Easy Star All Stars\, The English Beat\, The Aggrolites\, Collie Budz\, The Skints\, Save Ferris\, New Kingston\, The Suffers\, Western Standard Time\, Bedouin Soundclash\, The Pietasters and Los Lonely Boys. Jamaican patois for bandit\, The Bandulus will steal your heart and always leave you smiling. \n\n\n\nLos De Esta Noche is a Latin roots rock band from San Antonio\, Texas. Their sound is comprised of Rock\, Ska\, Cumbia\, and Conjunto music. Influenced by the sound and culture of the Mexico border\, they blend horns and percussion along with Spanish and English lyrics to make music that will make you move and dance. \n\n\n\nHailing from San Antonio and Dallas\, Kung Fu Sound System is a trio of Texas Selectors spinning soul\, funk\, reggae\, and ska vinyl. \n\n\n\nSince 1998\, The Stingers ATX have developed their own modern hybrid of Jamaican rocksteady/ska and classic American doo-wop soul: solid roots-reggae rhythms\, melodic horn lines\, and tight 3- and 4-part vocal harmonies. Their live shows have won them world-wide acclaim\, from their former weekly three-hour showcases at the Black Cat Lounge in Austin to a sold-out New Year’s Eve show at La Fleche d’Or in Paris\, to backing some of the most legendary names in ska/reggae music on European tours. \n\n\n\nRat King Cole is a ska-jazz fusion band hailing from San Antonio\, Texas. The band originally formed in 2013 when a group of friends with a shared passion for music decided to start jamming together. Since then\, Rat King Cole has become a staple in the San Antonio music scene\, playing shows at local bars\, clubs\, and festivals with their unique blend of upbeat ska rhythms and smooth jazz melodies—with a touch of reggae and funk thrown in for good measure. Their energetic live shows are known for getting crowds up and dancing\, with catchy hooks and infectious grooves that keep audiences coming back for more. \n\n\n\nBringing quality music and punk-rock energy to the scene\, Los Kurados are Austin’s premiere ska party band who also have a shit ton to say!

Since starting his project in 2023\, Tobias Lund and his groovy band have conquered the hearts of Austinites and toured in Texas and Louisiana. The EP “Leap of Faith” showcased his unique blend of groovy soul/R&B\, tender songwriting\, and catchy hooks\, influenced by Stevie Wonder and Allen Stone. \n\n\n\nElliot.Wavs creates soulful pop for people with big feelings. Hailed as “better than Lexipro\,” with a lush choral element\, heavy guitars\, playful synths\, and soaring vocals\, Elliot.Wavs will take you on an emotional journey—don’t be surprised if you get carried away. \n\n\n\nLo Gentry is a new sound with an old soul\, and a Kansas City-born Missouri native recently arrived on the Austin music scene. This isn’t your usual pop—Lo pulls inspiration from George Clinton\, Erykah Badu\, Dina Washington\, Prince\, and Queen\, with heavy punk\, funk\, and neo soul vibes.

SUMMARY:King Yellowman + Dub Gideon + DJ Mista B
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n\n\n\nJoin on Facebook\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nKing Yellowman has an incredible history in Reggae music. His upbringing at the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston and being albino in Jamaica were two obstacles the he overcame and went on to be (at one time) the biggest reggae artist since Bob Marley.   \n\n\n\nAfter winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston\, Yellow went on to excite reggae crowds all over Jamaica and the rest of the world with his boastful and sometimes bodacious lyrics. His ability to ride rhythm and excite a crowd made Yellow an instant hit in Jamaica. He also began to work with the Ace Sound System in St. Thomas and drew big crowds at his dancehall performances. \n\n\n\nLater in his career\, Yellow began to spread out and work for a number of different producers\, sometimes releasing as many as five albums per year. This led to a recording contract with CBS Records. Yellowman recorded one album with them before he was diagnosed with jaw cancer and was given six months to live. This was in 1986. After surgery and an extended leave of absence from the record industry\, Yellowman began his comeback with the song “Blueberry Hill\,” and his career was re-launched. \n\n\n\nHis first album for RAS came from producer Phillip ‘Fatis’ Burrell and was called “Yellow Like Cheese.” Coincidentally\, this was the start of a long and fruitful relationship with RAS and Yellowman\, as well as RAS and Fatis’s Exterminator Productions. \n\n\n\nThe rudest Dancehall toaster of the 1980s\, Jamaica’s albino son Yellowman made as many enemies as fans with his controversial (if tongue in cheek) lyrics. Now back on the Ragga scene\, singing at a slightly slower pace\, Yellowman’s witticisms are as cheeky\, spirited and intelligent as ever\, and delivered with his customary sharp\, melodic style.
