In a departure from the traditional reggae songwriting intrinsic to Jamaican Dub, Grimy Styles draws inspiration from many artists spanning from Pink Floyd to Slayer and Astor Piazzola to U2. Classically inspired melodica and guitar drive melodies while drum and bass point back to the fundamental rhythm of King Tubby and Lee “Scratch” Perry. After a hiatus from writing, Grimy is back with new material and will be sure to play old favorites as well.

Nemegata opens: Influenced by cumbia, bullerengue, gaita music, Colombian Andean songs, Southern Mali’s wassoulou music, Sahara’s desert blues, as well as 60’s and 70’s delirious psychedelia from Africa and South America, Nemegata is a fierce power trio currently stretching its roots in Austin. Comprised of bassist Cesar Valencia (aka Afronova) and Superfonico’s drummer Daniel Sanchez.
